MCRocs is dedicated to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in MiniCassia area schools.  To further our mission, we actively engage in Outreach programs to educate other students and the local public in FIRST programs like FIRST Lego League and FIRST Robotics Competition, as well as proving information and insights into science and technology related occupation fields.

REACHING OUT

MENTORING

FIRST Lego League (FLL) is a robotics competition designed for youth ages 9 to 14.  The MiniCassia area is home to three thriving FLL teams: the "Neon Nerds" from Minidoka County, "Hot Wired" from Cassia County, and "Rocket Bots" from Cassia County.  MCRocs provides mentors to all three teams to help them out with their robot design and programming difficulties.  The 2013 competition year for our FLL affiliates was very successful.  All three teams made it to the state level in Twin Falls, Idaho.  A special congratulations goes out to the "Rocket Bots" for receiving the award for best team presentation!

EDUCATION

MCRocs reaches out to area youth and adults to educate them about FIRST programs, robotics, and employment in science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related fields.  During the past year, we have put on interactive demonstrations with area grade schools and local service clubs in an effort to broaden young students' horizons and let local business and community leaders see what is being done to ensure a bright future for our local economies.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

The MiniCassia area of Idaho, or the "Magic Valley", is an agricultural based economy; agricultural production and processing of agricultural products is an ever more technical endeavor.  From GPS technology in farm and irrigation equipment, to robotics applications and mechanical automations in our area processing plants, there is a steadily growing need for workers that are well-trained in technology, engineering, and robotics applications.  Our team members will be well ahead of the competition for local jobs and further educational activities.

TESTIMONIALS

"FIRST has made my prospective on my career change altogether. This organization is one of the most amazing groups i have ever participated with. This is the first year I have ever gotten a 4.0 GPA! I attribute this to my involvement on our FIRST Robotics Team. I look forward to learning more about engineering and technology and how it affects our daily lives. I have been changed for good!"

-Jamison Burton, Freshman member Design and Build Team

"FIRST has benefited me by teaching me many things. I have learned about Gracious Professionalism, engineering, and managing my time. I love this program and hope to be on the team for the next three years.
