ABOUT US

Our team was formed for the 2012 competition year at Declo High School in Declo, Idaho.  Our team consisted of about a dozen (mostly freshman)Declo High School Students.  The Live Wire Team from Pocatello was our mentor team.  We teleconferenced with them once a week during the six-week build period;  they were amazing friends and mentors.  That year, our Rookie Year, we participated in the Rebound Rumble competition at West Valley City in the Maverick Center.  It was a difficult year—we did not really know what we were doing—but we managed to get our 120 pound robot designed, built, programmed, and on the competition floor of the arena.  We made several baskets and competed favorably for our first effort.

For the 2013 competition year, we determined that it would be of great benefit to our team and community to move our headquarters to the MiniCassia Tech Center in neighboring Burley, Idaho, and open our doors to students from Minidoka and Cassia County High Schools.  We also formed a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, MiniCassia Science and Technology Fund, Inc., to receive grants and donations to keep us financially afloat, and aid us in our goal of promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in area public schools.  We also changed our name to MCRocs (MiniCassia Robotics).  We have fourteen dedicated members from various area high schools (freshman through seniors) who are divided into three sub-teams to help us get ready for competition:  The Public Relations Team, the Build Team, and the Programming Team.

We are currently designing and building our competition robot that will pick up and throw Frisbees through slots in the game field walls, and climb a ten foot tower!  With only six weeks to complete the task, we are sure to be “Perfected under Pressure”.
